How to Choose a Lamination Machine
- Pouch vs roll
- Pouch laminators seal individual documents inside pre-cut pouches and suit certificates, ID cards and everyday office use. Roll laminators use continuous film and are built for high volume or oversized work.
- Size
- A4 machines cover standard documents and certificates. A3 machines handle larger sheets, posters and multiple small items laminated together, and are the more flexible choice if your work varies.
- Warm-up time
- How long the machine takes to reach operating temperature before the first document. Shorter warm-up matters where lamination is occasional and on demand.
- Pouch thickness
- Pouches are measured in microns. Thinner pouches are economical and stay flexible; thicker pouches give a rigid, more durable finish suited to ID cards and items handled frequently.
- Hot and cold lamination
- Hot lamination is standard for paper documents. Cold lamination is used for heat-sensitive materials such as certain photographs and printed media.
